Advanced and innovative Fiery technology from EFI

-Avantika Printers one of the early bird users

EFI has announced the availability of the next generation of its industry leading Fiery production printing platform. Digital front ends (DFEs) based on EFI Fiery FS300 Pro platform drive presses across sheetfed, high-speed continuous feed, B1 folding carton, and corrugated digital production systems. These new products retain Fiery technology’s position as the world’s most productive and versatile DFE platform offering with new features in the key areas that print customers care about: colour, performance, usability and integration.

“With the trend toward shorter runs and faster turnaround times, digital print shops need systems that make every minute and every step count. Shops can double the processing speed on more types of jobs with Fiery HyperRIP enhancements on the Fiery NX Premium print server,” said John Henze, vice president of marketing at EFI. “Higher Fiery processing speed enables 10x the throughput than before on Fiery XB print servers, driving print engines all the way to 2,400 ppm and beyond.”

The Fiery FS300 Pro platform comes with the new, free Version 6 of Fiery Command WorkStation, the most popular production print job management solution in the industry, estimated to be used by more than a quarter million print professionals.

The Fiery FS300 Pro platform is accompanied by a completely redesigned Command WorkStation that dramatically improves the industry’s most trusted job management application. In less than two months, more than 41,000 have already upgraded to the new version to run their print shops more productively.

One of these include New Delhi-based Avantika Printers Pvt Ltd, which produces more work per shift thanks to the Command WorkStation 6’s strengthened search features. Himanshu Pandey, director of Avantika Printers, said “The transition to Command WorkStation 6 increased the productivity of Avantika’s shop floor by 15%.”

Srilekha Power Printers installs Heidelberg Speedmaster SM-74

(L-R) Rajendra and Sanagmeswara Rao with the Speedmaster SM 74 four colour pressIn a bid to fortify its professional print offerings and expand its user community, Srilekha Power Printers installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 four-colour press. “Our investment in the Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74-4 clearly demonstrates our strategy to capture new market opportunities, while strengthening our existing customer base,” smiles Sangameswara Rao, one of the two partners of the Vijayawada-based printing firm, which specializes in printing posters, pamphlets, brochures, catalogues, books, and preprinted office stationery.

“The SM 74-4 is an ideal fit for our high-volume business. The fabulous level of automation is the highlight. Manual intervention is significantly reduced by 70–75%. To us, this means less stress and higher productivity,” comments Rajendra, the other partner who is a print technocrat. A high-performance Prinect press center acts as the control station in a Speedmaster SM74-4, slicing the number of operating steps by 70%.

The Speedmaster SM74-4 is equipped with automation features like ‘Auto Plate’ that ensure quicker plate changes, cutting down make-ready and setup times notably vs. other presses. A highly automated feeder with central suction tape handles a wide array of print substrates, from thin paper to board, ranging in thickness from 0.03 mm to 0.6 mm.

High production speeds of up to 15,000 sheets per hour can be achieved with the Speedmaster SM 74-4. Lateral sheet separation blowers separate sheets more effectively and ensure smooth sheet travel, regardless of the printing stock being used. A fully automatic perfecting device enables printing on both sides of a sheet in a single pass, facilitating cost-effective production and faster throughput times for print jobs.

“Long-run jobs represent a major chunk of our business. So, we opted for the high-pile delivery configuration that requires fewer pile changes. Sheets don’t get scratched or smeared during perfecting or work-and-turn operations. The Venturi nozzles in the sheet guide plate takes care of that,” observes Rajendra.

FUJIFILM India caters country’s first Eastcom VLF CtCP to Maa Reprographics

Maa Reprographics, a leading pre-press house based in New Delhi, has recently installed the country’s first Eastcom VLF CtCP in its Bawana facility. The very large-format CtCP from FUJIFILM India makes them capable to boost volume of production with simplicity and quality to the utmost level. Subsequent to the successful installation and inauguration of the first ever Eastcom VLF CtCP in the country at Maa Reprographics in New Delhi, SM Ramprasad, AVP, Graphics Arts Division, FUJIFILM India said that the existing opportunity in the Indian printing industry is ample; and the technologies FUJIFILM is offering across the pre-press as well as printing domains are in tandem with the current requirements.

“FUJIFILM India has been our mentor and partner over the last six years in a way that without them we would have never attained where we are today,” asserted Masoom Kathuria from Maa Reprographics. Such mutual relationship between the two companies has instilled Maa Reprographics to go for the very large-format CtCP. Recalling their initial move, Masoom stated that they opened their first pre-press venture AM Graphics in the year 2011 with the adoption of an FFEI Violet CtP machine. “We have had a very successful experience with the machine in terms of quality and service support, thus our relationship continues,” he mentioned.

Over the years, with gaining growth and moving along the latest trends, Masoom eventually decided for a grand expansion, in which they gave birth to Maa Reprographics. “Banking on our successful experience with FUJIFILM India, we finally decided to invest in Eastcom VLF CtCP online plate setter system, which would enable us to cater to a larger market segment and enhance our capabilities in addressing customers’ requirements,” said Masoom

Manufactured by Hangzhou Eastern Optiolectronics Technology, a subsidiary of Potevio Eastcom Communication Group, Eastcom VLF CtCP is designed for 2400 dpi, and the machine is crafted with external drum, capable to deliver maximum plate size of 1670x1330mm and minimum 650x550mm. External dimension of the machine is LxWxH (3140x1975 mm) x 1280 mm.

When asked what they expect from Eastcom VLF CtCP, Masoom is very clear about the machine that can help them increase turnaround time and reduce operating cost. “Earlier we faced difficulty in handling bigger plate sizes; but with the adoption of the very-large format CtCP, things get easier, simpler and rather better,” mentioned Masoom.

Maa Reprographics has been sole supplier of plates to a number of leading book publishers, offset printing firms around Delhi and its satellite towns like Punjab. To name a few leading names in the list, it may include popular offset printing firms viz. SD Offset, DN Offset, Dewan Offset, among others.
