Exceeding expectations with overwhelming response

As the most successful regional exhibition for the packaging and printing sectors, Pack Print International 2011 concluded in Bangkok (Thailand) marking record sales and visitors. The strength of the exhibition was its ability to attract the right audience, including trade buyers with real influence in the buying decision. The sentiment was unanimous for around 200 exhibitors from 20 countries at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) during Aug 31-Sep 03, 2011, witnessing almost 17,000 attendees from more than 50 countries with a four fold increase in international visitors compared to 2009. From India, the event saw more than 300 visitors along with presence of over ten exhibitors including Line O Matic, Diehard Dies, Pratham Technologies, Expert Industries, Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India, North India Printers’ Association, and Paper, Film & Foil Convertors’ Association. This third edition of International Packaging and Printing Exhibition for Asia ended on an extremely positive note with overwhelming response marking an increase of about 40 percent in visitor attendance compared to the 2009 edition. Exhibitors were in good spirits and reported having a steady stream of meetings with high-quality visitors throughout the four days, as well as receiving specific orders. Many exhibitors expect active post-exhibition business and will also continue to use the online business matching service, which is valid for up to one year after the exhibition. Joint organizers of Pack Print International, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, The Thai Packaging Association and The Thai Printing Association are extremely satisfied with the highly effective forum for Thailand’s packaging and printing sectors.

“In all, Pack Print International 2011 was a tremendous success,” commented Gernot Ringling, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, adding, “The exhibition has hit record sales and international visitorship that has exceeded expectations. There was a real buzz around the show floor throughout the four days with trade visitors actively seeking new products and services, and business opportunities. Feedback from exhibitors was that they were very surprised with the volume of actual sales contracted onsite from both local and international visitors.”

As per Kashem Yaemvathithong, president of The Thai Packaging Association, there was continuous activity on the show floor and a steady stream of quality exhibitors throughout the exhibition. “This shows continues to be very attractive and relevant to the industry, and judging by the number of machines sold off on the show floor, it is a key indicator of the value being derived by both exhibitors and visitors,” conveyed Pornchai Rattanachaikanont, president of The Thai Printing Association.

Indian exhibitor Diehard Dies, one of the manufactures with sophisticated dies having over 500 customers in India, presented different types of dies with Germany technology, at the show. Pratham Technologies who have installed more 4,000 machines so far showcased ‘Superfold’, an automatic paper folding machine. Line O Matic and Expert Industries also presented their expertise at the show.

Most of the exhibitors were happy with the outstanding response. “We exceeded our sales targets at Pack Print International, and based on this year’s show, we are very confident we will be back in 2013,” said Keith Patten, General Manager, Heidelberg Graphics (Thailand). Similar realization was expressed by Qi Xian Yun, managing director of Sanxin Printing Machine Material saying, “Pack Print International is an ideal platform for brand building, to increase awareness and gain market presence. It is a growing market with much potential, and Sanxin is planning to come back in 2013 with a much bigger booth.” According to sales manager Naruj Rattanaurachai from Bobst Group (Thailand), they exceeded sales targets set and had numerous new customers to their booth. “We are extremely happy with the number and quality of visitors to Pack Print International, and we have never had so many people visiting our booth at a trade exhibition in Southeast Asia before,” he added.

A ‘great’ realisation to manroland!

Visitors were deeply impressed by groundbreaking printing technology from manroland. They enjoyed the non-stop video showing the advanced printing technology and the premium performance of the ROLAND press series as well as the high-quality printing samples. manroland introduced a wide range of innovative Value Added Printing (VAP) solutions for the ROLAND 700 HiPrint: ROLAND InlineInspector and ROLAND InlineSorter ensure the premium quality of printed products and reduce waste, while ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor and ROLAND InlineCoater smart produce brilliant effects in metallic printing and coated applications for product enhancement. A special highlight was the PraxisDialog manroland held during the exhibition, focusing on how to enhance productivity and ensure quality. “PPI provides us a wonderful platform for close and direct dialogue with our customers, to discuss how manroland’s value added printing approach can help them differentiate themselves to stay ahead of the competition,” said Job van Hasselt, managing director, manroland South East Asia.
