Meghdoot pioneers the retail FSDU and POP display segment

–One of the industry’s game changer integrates state-of-the-art HP and Esko technology

Meghdoot, one of the largest corrugated box manufacturers in India, has pioneered the use of very advanced equipment at its plants in Pantnagar and Delhi. In the beginning of this year, they have made a large-scale investment in the production of corrugated Free Standing Display and Point of Purchase displays. It is the first company in the country to install and integrate an HP Scitex FB10000 digital printer and a complete Esko POP display design and manufacturing solution.

Rohit Kapoor, executive director and CEO of Meghdoot shared, “As we all know, our industry in India is growing very fast and the customer’s demands are very high. We understood that Brand Owners demand quality results in the design, print and finishing of displays so they can market their products in the rapidly growing organised retail segment more effectively.”

Kapoor further explained, “We carefully planned the integration of high quality decorated corrugated materials to the brand owners requirements for FSDU and POP/POS displays. We invested in the right digital printer, software, materials and digital finishing. To integrate the end-to-end solution delivery we chose Esko as the right solution provider. We invested in the complete range of Esko’s design solutions: ArtiosCAD structural design software and Studio software suite for asset creation and visualisation. Our installation of Esko’s Studio Store Visualizer is the first in India that is completely integrated with the CAD system and the Kongsberg XP24 digital finishing table. The Kongsberg XP24 comes with camera for producing precise multi-component displays, mock-ups and personalised promotional material in very short turnaround times.”

Meghdoot’s design capabilities are further enhanced by the first installation in India of Studio Store Visualizer and Esko’s Webcentre online approval system. The design and prepress workflow is seamlessly integrated with the Kongsberg XP24 digital finishing table which comes with sheet feeder, conveyor and delivery table systems.

This automated cutting and creasing configuration enables 24/7 both one-off and short run productivity because of the XP24’s cutting speed and the speed of tool changes. The XP24’s fast job preparation, its speed and low idle time establish a completely new standard for digital cutting tables whereas the robustness of the machine provides accurate handling of even the most challenging materials.

Shrihari Rao, sales director of Esko India added, “It’s an honour for Esko to be associated with a company which is the first to go digital in the Indian corrugation market. We were amazed at the speed at which Rohit Kapoor went about implementing this project. His vision of ‘the offerings beyond imagination’ combined with its core strength of packaging solutions is Meghdoot’s USP in the decorated corrugated FSDU, POP and packaging industry.”

Rao added, “The high level of automation and precision in Kongsberg finishing table perfectly complements the state-of-the-art HP Scitex FB 10000 Digital Print Engine. We are sure the facility at Meghdoot will change the way products are marketed in retail industry environment in India.”
