SPMCIL contribution under CSR

Contribution of Rs one crore to Uttarakhand and Rs 50 lakh to Bihar for relief and rehabilitations

MS Rana, chairman and managing director, Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd presented a cheque of Rs one crore to Vijay Bahuguna, CM, Uttarakhand and Rs 50 lakh to Nitish Kumar, CM, Bihar in New Delhi recently as contribution towards relief and rehabilitation activities. In wake of the unprecedented floods in Uttarakhand and havoc caused by cyclone “Phailin” in the State of Bihar, SPMCIL’s contribution to Chief Minister’s Relief Funds is one among various initiatives taken by the company under its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programme. On the occasion, Dr Manoranjan Dash, director (HR); PN Radkar, director (Tech); SK Jha, chief vigilance officer and other officials of SPMCIL were present.

Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) was created in January, 2006 with nine units (consisting of four mints, two security presses, two currency note presses and one security paper mill) functioning under Deptt. of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Govt Of India were transferred to SPMCIL.

SPMCIL was created with an objective of improved decision making leading to enhanced productivity, efficiency and improved financial health of those nine units. The main business of SPMCIL is production of bank notes, circulating coins, commemorative coins, medals and medallions, various security products like passports, travel documents, postal stationery and other security products and production of the security paper.

The Company has been granted the ‘Excellent’ rating by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) for its MoU evaluation during the year 2011-12 for third year in succession and as per Self-Evaluation Report of MoU 2012-13 submitted to DPE, the company is again poised for ‘Excellent rating for the fourth time’.
