Bobst India open house at Sai Pakaging facility in Bengaluru

It was a live demo arranged by Bobst India for bunch of prospects not only from the city of Bengaluru but far away places of Southern India including Sivakasi. Arvind Sekhar, director, Sai Packaging Co was present along with the whole team of Bobst India. SK Khurana, editor, Print & Publishing, who was also present at this open house, interacted briefly with Arvind, as to what prompted them to invest in second such die punching machine from Bobst India.

Engaged in catering ten leading customers by fulfilling their packaging cartons needs and initiating further to increase this number, Sai Packaging Co has been planning to make a right equlibrium between two multi-colour offset presses and one die punching machine. “After making due diligence, we concluded that to go on a growth path, addition of one high tech die punching machine will be the only option and decided on the newer version ‘NovaCut 106 E’ from Bobst India. Based on our experience with the earlier NovaCut and the after sale, service of Bobst India, made it very easy to opt for this,” conveyed Arvind. “The key features of this machine include auto stripping offering much higher productivity enabling us to meet our delivery deadlines more confidently,” he added further.

Sai Packaging with a team of 150 dedicated staff, working in two shifts has already achieved total quality parameters by securing ISO, OEE and UGRA certifications. These initiatives bring Sai Packaging’s vast capabilities to reproduce the desired quality level of print in terms of right shades of colour, perfect gamut as specified by the customers/designers. Fast approval of proofs by clients and reduced make-ready time becomes yet another daily routine at Sai Packaging Co. Taking similar initiatives further Arvind believes very strongly in ‘Kaizen’ culture and have already started following whatever way has been feasible. As a matter of fact, Arvind wish to see himself as an expert in Kaizen in the years to come.

Having moved from the theory of “Art to Science”, in carton producing activity, Arvind is equally confident in their group turnover of current Rs 96 crore into three times in the next three years as against the two times in the past five years.

Commenting on the recent cut-throat competition in packaging segment, Arvind feels secure enough in a way that the intelligence prevailing today amongst customers/print-buyers and conducting right amount of quality audit, keeps ‘under equipped’ suppliers away at least from companies of repute. Additionally the suppliers, with right strategies in place, supported with their strength in all areas of production and overall discipline may not find it difficult to be in the preferred venders list of the customers, who are equally concerned to keep their supply chain working intact.
